Reiff F6 Magnacut Knife
The Reiff F6 Magnacut is here! And like its older brother; the F6 in CPM 3V, the newest version is a modern take on a traditional Leuku Knife.
- What is a Leuku Knife?
A “Leuku” knife, by definition, is a “large knife” that features a long, wide blade and a large, comfortable handle. - Leuku Knife History:
Much of the Leuku’s history can be tied back to the Sami People in Lapland, Finland. If you ever have some time to spare, it is a fascinating bit of history to research. - Uses for a Leuku Knife:
A Traditional Leuku Knife commonly sees use in the kitchen, around camp, cutting new thatching for rooves…In other words, it is a “do it all” tool for everyday life.
How do I like the Reiff F6?
My thoughts about the original F6 and the Reiff F6 Magnacut, being reviewed here, will be much the same. So, if you have not done so already, read my Original F6 Review Here. Again, my thoughts about the 2 knives are the same, even though the blade steel has changed in this model.
Reiff F6 Magnacut Specs:
Let’s go ahead and kick this review off with some Reiff F6 Magnacut Specifications:
Blade Length: 6″
A 6″ blade is the largest knife that I typically use these days. And, while I love a shorter blade, I have grown to enjoy these longer blades for certain outdoor trips/tasks. The 6″ blade length is ideal when processing kindling for fires. It makes crafting a survival shelter possible with only a knife. And it makes shorter work of labor-intensive tasks.
Overall Length: 11.25″
Blade Thickness: 3/16″ (or .1875″)
The blade thickness aids to the F6’s strength and durability in the field. In short: The Reiff F6 is a sturdy knife!
Blade Grind: Slightly Hollow Saber Grind
A Saber Grind is in the middle of the road between two of the most popular blade grinds, a Scandi and a Flat Grind. While a Saber Grind can carve, it won’t be as good for this task as the Reiff F4 Scandi or Reiff S5 Glider. However, the Saber grind is incredibly strong and perfect for hard use! That’s why you’ll see me choosing it as a “do-all” survival knife grind, as I mentioned in the F5 Field Survival Knife article here.
Blade Steel: CPM Magnacut
As I always mention, I am not a steel snob. I typically don’t even pay attention to blade steel, unless it’s pointed out in the name or stamped very obviously on the blade. However, my experience with CPM Magnacut has been: It is very strong and can be honed with a strop. That is, quite simply, everything I look for in a blade steel. I don’t overcomplicate things.
Handle Material: Natural Canvas Micarta
Natural Canvas Micarta is my favorite handle material! It ages so well, provides great grip in the field, and is nearly indestructible. I love the look of it as well!
Weight: 12.9oz
The F6 is not a lightweight and you will notice it’s on your hip. But, when I carry this knife, I typically only pair it with a folding saw…So, I’m not bothered by the weight.
USA Made with a “Carry No Cares” Warranty
Average Price: $399 w/ Leather or Kydex Belt Sheath
As I say in every Reiff Knife Review, this is not a “budget knife”. However, if you’re looking for a premium knife that rivals most custom knives on the market, this is certainly worth picking up! (Keep reading for more of my thoughts)

Are Reiff Knives Worth It?
In this review, I want to elaborate on the question: Are Reiff Knives Worth it? I have reviewed several Reiff Knives, at this point, so I can speak with some authority on the matter.
- Performance versus other knives:
I recently laid out a huge pile of knives and began testing them in a “rapid fire” succession. Consistently, my Reiff Knives made it to the top of the pile as one of my favorites in terms of comfort, durability, and ease of use. - As I mentioned in the pricing section:
Reiff Knives are not cheap. However, they’re not built cheaply either. Reiff Knives are premium knives and not meant to be an impulse purchase. In my opinion, this is a serious tool for a serious outdoorsman/outdoorswoman. Save up if you want one. Ask your loved ones to chip in and get it for you as a gift. Or buy one to commemorate a special moment in your life. - The Carry No Cares Warranty:
This is a huge value, especially coming from a small business. The Reiff Knives warranty goes as far as replacing your knife if it’s stolen and you have a police report! That’s pretty awesome.

If you are in the market for a sturdy survival knife that will not let you down, I would 100% recommend you look into Reiff Knives! I have had a blast testing the models that I have so far and they always find their way onto my hip when I’m heading out for serious work in the woods or urban situations.
