Wuben G5 EDC Flashlight
I have not changed up my EDC Light very much over the years. However, this year, I have decided to test a few new flashlights, with the Wuben G5 being one of them. This light looked incredible and innovative as soon as I saw it. So, I had to test it out for myself.
The biggest selling point about the Wuben G5 was the fact that it packs a ton of my favorite features into one compact package. The feature list, which I will talk about next, is very rare to see in a pocket flashlight. In fact, I typically have to go without certain features, based on the design limitations of other flashlights.

My use for the Wuben G5: EDC Flashlight, and worklight for automotive & home projects.
Wuben G5 Features
There are a ton of handy features in the Wuben G5 Flashlight. However, I’m going to cover some of my favorites that I look for in an EDC Flashlight, based on my personal preferences and use-case.
- A very low lumen mode:
I run my lights on a low power mode the majority of the time. And this light goes down to 2 lumens at its lowest white-light setting (with 400 lumens being its max). - A red light mode:
I use red light at night, while hunting or fishing at dawn/dusk, to preserve my night vision. This light has the full RGB spectrum, including my beloved red light. - A magnetic base:
A magnetic flashlight is infinitely handy when you’re working on any project. The Wuben G5 has a magnetic base for slapping under car hoods, sinks, or wherever I’m working. - Slim & easy to carry
- Affordable:
This light is well priced at $25. Check it out at WubenLight.com.

Is the Wuben G5 easy to use?
This seems to be the most common question I’ve seen about this light. And my personal answer is, yes. But, let me explain.
- My biggest concern when getting the G5 was, in fact, the user-interface and switching between modes. I wasn’t sure how easy it would be. However, it came natural to me.
- However, I have used a lot of headlamps over the years for camping, fishing, and hunting. And teh reason I mention headlamps is it reminds me of a headlamp in terms of switching between modes.
- With the Wuben G5, you do have to put more thought into the button presses, compared to traditional flashlights. But, for me anyways, once I remember the flow of the button presses/long-holds I get used to it.
- The placement of the button (on the side) still throws me from time to time, as I’m so used to carrying a flashlight with a rear tail switch. Other than that, its been a smooth process using the Wuben G5.
