I have been using the Waxed Canvas Rucksack by Campcraft Outdoors for the majority of 2020 (when I need to carry more than my haversack allows). The layout and design of this rucksack is very similar to the Woodcraft Haversack, but it has backpack straps and a couple of extra pockets.
- Similar to the Woodcraft Haversack, this pack organizes very well while remaining minimal.
- Due to its similarities to the haversack, this rucksack is the perfect bag to switch to when I need to carry more gear.
- With a 25lb loadout (give or take), it’s very comfortable.
- It holds everything I need for winter outings.
- The classic look & feel of the waxed canvas feels perfectly at home in the outdoors.

Campcraft Lt. Colonel Bushcraft Knife
Let’s round this list out with a piece of gear from Campcraft that I’ve not been able to get enough of this year…The Lt. Colonel Bushcraft Knife.
- This knife has a fantastic 5″ Blade, but it feels a lot shorter on your belt (making it comfortable to carry).
- Slightly less than $100, this is my go-to recommendation for the best budget bushcraft knife.
- I have beaten this knife to death (purposely and out of necessity a couple of times) and it has taken every bit of abuse with ease.
- This knife has it all for the serious woodsman:
It’s very sturdy for tough tasks, yet thin enough for food prep, the handle is comfortable to use for hours on end, the blade steel maintains a great edge and resharpens easily, the blade profile is ideal for a variety of outdoor tasks, and it has a razor-sharp 90º spine for scraping bark or a ferro rod.
