Welcome back to another article in my Behind The Lens series! As always, we’re going to recap the 3 images I posted last week over on my Instagram. I’ll share a bit more about the gear I used and the stories behind the images.
CLOSED .
Behind the Image: A lot of people know me for my nature landscape photography. But I actually really enjoy street photography as well. In fact, street photography was one of the first things that got me hooked on photography. I plan to post more street photography in the future. (probably one every other week)
Gear Used: Fuji X-T20 . XF35mm F2 . Mindshift Photocross 13 Sling Bag
Gear Comments: I love pairing the Fuji X-T20 and 35mm F2 together for street photography. The MindShift Photocross 13 sling bag is perfect for a lightweight kit as well. It’s comfortable with lighter loads, swings around easily for lens changes and carries the perfect amount of gear for street photography sessions.
24 HOURS .
Behind the Image: I’ve been sitting on this photo for awhile, but I ended up posting it last week with the title “24 Hours .” The name ’24 Hours’ was fitting because I was in the midst of a 24 Hour day of photography when I posted it to Instagram. That day was kind of an unintentional challenge for me to get out, create photos out of my home state and out of my comfort zone (more on those this week).
Gear Used: Fuji X-T20 . XF55-200 Lens . Vanguard Alta Pro 2+ (264CT) . Lowepro ProTactic 450 AWII
Gear Comments: You all have heard me rave enough about the X-T20 and 55-200 by now. So I’ll just say that the Vanguard Alta Pro 2+ Tripod and LowePro ProTactic 450 are two of my favorite pieces of gear. The Alta Pro 2+ tripod allows me to take shots that are totally bonkers. And the ProTactic 450 is the perfect bag for all of my adventures…I’ve practically lived out of it, as of late.
NOT ACCORDING TO PLAN .
Behind The Image: You know, as photographers we always show our best work. People who follow our work probably think that we take epic photos and nothing else. However, that’s not the case at all. “Not According To Plan” was taken at the very end of a day that I had set aside for landscape photography. I drove 400 miles that day if my memory serves me correctly. I didn’t get a single shot that I liked, except for this bridge picture. This served as a reminder that your days aren’t always going to go according to plan, but you have to keep doing your thing anyways.
Gear Used: Fuji X-T20 . XF55-200 Lens . Lowepro ProTactic 450 AWII
Gear Comments: This image really showed me what the Fuji X-T20 is capable of in terms of dynamic range. I was able to bring out so much detail in the shadows of this image (considering I shot it after the sun had set). This is yet another reason why I love the Fuji X-T20 so much.
Until Next Week .
