Welcome back to week FIVE of Behind The Lens! As always, I’ll be recapping last week’s 3 images that I posted over on Instagram. I’ll share more about the shots and the gear I used to capture them.
Sunset & Silhouettes .
Behind the Image: Something about this image really stood out to me when I got back home & began processing it. I believe it was the fact that it looks a lot like what I experienced that night. All I could see before me were the beautiful colors of the sunset, the silhouettes of nearby mountains and this tree in the foreground.
Gear Used: Fuji X-T20 . Fuji XF35mm f2 . Vanguard VEO 2 (235CB) Travel Tripod . Gobe CPL Filter . Mindshift Filter Nest . Vanguard VEO Discover 38 Messenger Bag
See Through .
Behind the Image: “See Through” was shot while testing the XF55-200 Lens from Fujifilm. I was blown away by the vintage look of this image. The bokeh and color renditions are so beautiful and classic looking. This is one of my all-time favorite images from this lens.
Gear Used: Fuji X-T20 . XF55-200 . Lowepro ProTactic 450 (reviewed here)
Rise .
Available now as a 24×18 or 16×20 Print
Behind the Image: “Rise” was shot on a photography trip my wife and I took through the Great Smoky Mountains (go figure, I’m always there, lol). We experienced Fall and Winter all in one day…It was stunning.
Just before we departed for the day, we explored some back roads and found this mountain range tucked away. This was one of the first times that I can say I was 110% happy with my image and wouldn’t change a thing. “Rise” turned out to be the image that I went on this trip to capture.

Behind The Image (above): This was shot on my iPhone 8 in my photography studio.
To the left you can see the camera + lens I shot “Rise” with and on the right, a physical print of it.
