Condor Trivittata Puukko Knife
As soon as I saw the Condor Trivittata Puukko Knife, I had to have it! A well-designed Puukko Knife is one of my all-time favorite knife patterns for use in the woods. There is no other blade shape that comes close to doing Campcraft tasks better than this Scandinavian-inspired design.
Specifically speaking about the Condor Trivittata, here are some of its high points to get the conversation started:
- Blade Length: 3.47″
This blade length is the sweet spot, for me, when picking a knife that I’ll be carving and using for extended periods of time (around 3 ½ inches). - Overall Length: 7.76″
The compact overall length of the Condor Trivittata makes it easy to carry on your belt every day. - Thickness: 0.12″
The blade thickness offers plenty of strength, without being too thick and compromising its slicing capabilities. - Weight: 7.76 oz.
The Condor Trivittata is not an ultralight. But, it’s not heavy either. The weight feels just right and it is perfectly balanced. - 1095 Carbon Steel:
I have mentioned it over and over again, but 1095 is my favorite steel for field use. It is easy to maintain with a simple sharpening stone, it holds a good edge and doesn’t chip out easily when you encounter pine knots or the like.
- Scandi Grind with a 90º Spine:
A Scandi Grind is my go-to when I’m choosing a belt knife that I will be using to carve a lot of wood. I want a Scandi Grind for its ability to process large chunks of wood easily – And, to also have the ability to shape wood delicately when needed. And a 90º Spine is ideal on this sort of knife for use with a ferro rod, scraping wood for fire tinder, or other carving tasks). - Attention to detail:
This knife is beautifully designed. I, particularly, love the thick Micarta handles and the red liners. - Leather Sheath:
I’ve said this for years – Condor makes some of the best factory sheaths on the market. And the Condor Trivittata Puukko Knife sheath is no exception. It is thick, has a great welt, holds the knife securely, is comfortable to wear, and looks beautiful. - Price: $80 at SMKW.com
This $80 price tag makes picking up a Condor Trivittata a no-brainer for me. Similar Puukko’s, especially on the custom market, easily start at $200+.

Condor Trivittata Review
As you can tell, this knife has not been put through the wringer as of when I took these initial photos. But, as we speak, my full Condor Trivittata Review is underway and this knife is in full testing (I just didn’t want to wait months to talk about it). During my testing, however, I will be posting updates on my Instagram and Facebook pages. So, follow along to hear more!
And, I, of course, don’t want to leave you hanging until then. So, here are some of my first impressions:
- New Favorite?
I hate to hype a new knife up too quickly. But, I believe the Condor Trivittata might be one of my favorite new knives in this category (ie: bushcraft/woodcraft, carving knives). My initial impressions of using it have me very impressed. - The Designer:
The Condor Trivittata is designed by a fellow named Goran Mihajlovic, who designed one of my other favorite knives, the Tops Tanimboca Puukko. If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know that the Tops Tanimboca Puukko has been my favorite knife for a long while. And, as much as it pains me to say, I believe the Condor Trivittata is about to de-throne Goran’s Tops design. - Intended use for the Condor Trivittata:
I got the Condor Trivittata to use as a general camp knife, wood crafting knife, and EDC survival knife. To put that into more simple terms: I want it to cut things quickly & easily, shape, carve, and split small-diameter wood, process animals or fish, and be able to help as I make fire. In addition to this, it has to be comfortable to carry and use for extended periods of time (and it has been extremely comfortable to carry + use so far). - Most comfortable handle:
Again, I’m trying to not hype the Condor Trivittata up too much. But, this is the most comfortable knife handle I’ve picked up in a very long while. It fits me perfectly and I imagine it will fit a lot of other people very well too.
