July 2019 Everyday Carry Gear
This month has brought in a lot of new & awesome Everyday Carry Gear. Just the same, I’ve been using some gear that needed to see some pocket time. Let’s dive in and I’ll show some of the new items that I’ve been carrying.
Benchmade 940-2
The Benchmade 940-2 is a knife that I had my eyes on for years, but always put off purchasing (for some odd reason). When I finally picked one up a couple of months ago, I got a few other knives in for testing at the same time and this one (sadly) had to go to the drawer for a bit.
However, this week, I am dead set that I am carrying it every single day of the week. And my goodness, what a joy this knife has been. Here are some quick points about it…
- It disappears in your pocket due to its slender size and weight.
- It has great action (it will even fall shut with some minor tweaks).
- The blade shape is extremely practical for all of the various everyday carry tasks (opening boxes, food prep, etc).
- It utilizes S30V. Which is still one of my favorite steels when weighing performance vs. ease of maintenance.
- The standard pocket clip isn’t my favorite, so I’m likely going to replace it with a deep carry option.
- Axis-Lock is one of my favorites for everyday carry.
- I picked this knife up for a great price at $140 and I couldn’t be happier with it.
- In fact, the 940-2 is quickly climbing up the ranks into “Favorite EDC Knife” territory.
Benchmade Work Sharp Edge Maintenance Tool
My good friends over at Work Sharp were kind enough to send over an Edge Maintenance Tool. I couldn’t be more excited about this new collaboration between them and Benchmade. I still have plenty of testing ahead of me for the Edge Maintenance Tool. But I already love how portable and accessible it is for times when you might not have a larger sharpener around.

Musk & Hustle
I recently got connected with a brand called Musk & Hustle and let me just say, I love this company. Not only are they some of the kindest people…But they’ve managed to make cologne a practical everyday carry item.
The “Stubbies”, which you see above, are extremely compact and carryable. It is also a great place to start when you’re finding out what scents you love from the company. (my favorites are 122 + 148 combined and 163 by itself)
Musk and Hustle Valet Tray
In addition to Cologne, Musk & Hustle have some quality leather goods to further accentuate their product offerings (shown above is the Nitro Squire Valet Tray). Anyone who knows me knows that I’m in love with leather. And Musk & Hustle knocked it out of the park on these trays.
While these trays are marketed to house your Musk & Hustle Nitro’s or Stubbies, I use mine for my smaller EDC Gear when it’s out of my pockets at the end of the day.
That about does it for the newest and most noteworthy items in my EDC right now (at least the ones I haven’t already talked about). If you have any questions or thoughts, drop them below in the comments!
