I got my hands on my first LT Wright Handcrafted Knife in the summer of 2021 and I instantly fell in love with it. My first LT Wright Knife was a NextGen with a flat ground A2 blade. I immediately put this knife into use as a fishing & hunting knife, with great success.
As the year went on, I got connected with L.T. and his team to start doing a fair amount of their commercial product photography. L.T. & his team are salt-of-the-earth people, who I count myself blessed to call friends & work with. This relationship has also given me the opportunity to handle many of their knives at this point. And it is my unbiased conclusion that they are making some of the Best Bushcraft Knives for the Money right now.
The LT Wright Bushbaby is a phenomenal knife for the money. Coming in at less than $100 with a leather sheath, I find think this is one of the best deals in the bushcraft knife market right now. This knife might be a bit small for some hands…If that’s the case, bump up to the NextGen.
My latest belt knife from LT Wright is the Genesis Scandi (Carleigh Fairchild Edition). I’ve heard a lot of people sing the praises of the Genesis over the years and I totally understand it now. This knife is a workhorse and has one of the most comfortable handles I’ve ever felt.
All of the same talking points remain for this “Larry Roberts” Edition Genesis. The only thing that is changed between Larry and Carleigh’s models are the colors, engravings (mouse logo vs. “never give up”) and Larry’s knife has white liners. I am extremely grateful to own both of these and to have met both Carleigh & Larry.
My first knife from LT Wright was this NextGen with a flat grind. This is a step up in size from the Bushbaby that I previously showed. In my opinion, this knife is just right when it comes to its size. You can wear it into town or into the outdoors and it’s not obtrusive at all. The flat grind on this particular model makes it a fantastic knife in the indoor or outdoor kitchen as well.
Below are a few pictures of LT Wright’s collaboration with the show Wild Harvest Collection, hosted by Les Stroud (Survivorman). While these knives & tools are not mine to keep, I did get to spend a fair amount of time with them as I photographed them and they are works of art.
There will certainly be more to come between me and LT Wright Knives, so keep an eye out. Before you leave though, here are some additional photos from my last visit with LT Wright and his team.
