One of the areas in my hiking and backpacking kit that I always wanted to splurge on was a camp pillow. After trying a couple of bulkier ones, I knew they weren’t going to fly. So, I turned my attention to Sea To Summit for an Ultralight Backpacking Pillow and landed on the Aeros Pillow Ultralight.
Sea To Summit Pillow Review
I opted for the size Large “Sea To Summit Aeros Pillow Ultralight“. As you can see above, it easily fits into the palm of my hand and weighs a measly 2.5oz.
As Sea To Summit states on their site, it’s similar in size to a bottle of ibuprofen and lighter in weight than a deck of cards. I can attest to the weight/size references. This pillow is ideal for those of us looking to shave some weight from our load-outs. I never leave it behind when I’m hammocking or camping.

Hammock Pillow
A hammock, to me, is already comfortable for your neck and head. But, when you add a pillow to the mix, it takes it to 110%. My Sea To Summit Aeros stays right next to my hammock and tree straps…It’s a required part of my kit at this point.
Back Support For The Win
One of the biggest differences between outdoor living and common household living is there’s no back-support in the woods. We don’t have chairs and logs aren’t the most comfortable thing to rest against. So, the main options are to pack in a heavy camp chair, make a bushcraft chair or use a pillow in a hammock.
I personally love sitting in my hammock with my feet dangling out and my pillow supporting my back. It’s more comfortable than most of the seats in my house, in fact.
Do I Recommend Sea To Summit Aeros Pillow?
After around a year or year-and-a-half of extensive use, I recommend the Sea To Summit Aeros Pillow Ultralight without hesitation! This pillow is super light, extremely compact, really comfortable and made of fantastic materials. If you’re in the market for an ultralight backpacking pillow or a hammock camping pillow, this is the one I’d recommend!
