Work Sharp
Work Sharp is my go-to company for all things knife & tool sharpening and has been, for many years. I, honestly, cannot remember a time when I did not have one of my trusted Work Sharp Field Sharpeners in my bag or somewhere close by.
So, whenever Work Sharp asked if I’d like to do a lifestyle photoshoot around my life as an Outdoorsman and how I use the Professional Precision Adjust (review here), I quickly grabbed my camera and took to the outdoors!
Knife used: Kodiak Woodsman “Awaken Edition” Mini Puukko
Work Sharp Lifestyle Photoshoot
The goal of this photoshoot for Work Sharp was simple…
Simply get out there, do what I typically do in the outdoors, and show you the necessity of having a sharp knife along for the adventure.
Work Sharp Professional Precision Adjust
Shown above, is the Work Sharp Professional Precision Adjust sharpening system getting my Awaken Edition Puukko all tuned up and ready for the field. Speaking of Precision Adjust sharpeners, the regular Precision Adjust was my go-to until the Professional Model was released…and it is still a phenomenal sharpening system. But, the Professional Model has so many worthwhile upgrades. Check out my full review here to hear more about that.
Getting things sharp…
I typically stick with the lower abrasion diamond plates (600/800) when resharpening a blade. Then I move on to the ceramic plate, and finish things off with the leather strop. I don’t like it when my blade(s) get too dull or damaged. But, there have definitely been times when I’m fishing and cleaning a lot of fish that this is inevitable, and that’s when the more coarse diamond plates come in handy for repair jobs.

Shown above is the current lifestyle photoshoot takeover on Worksharp.com…
Honestly, this makes me a little bit giddy to see and I don’t care to admit it. This isn’t just another photo shoot. Work Sharp is a company that I stand behind and have stood behind long before we started working together on a professional level. So, it’s pretty cool to see my work on their homepage 🙂
Sharp Knives.
Part of our photoshoot was showing the freshly sharpened blade in action. We needed to show the necessity of a sharp knife that is able to perform at a moment’s notice. In this case, I’m processing a Largemouth Bass for the dinner table (and yes, it was delicious).
Kudos to Kodiak Woodsman for creating a rock-solid blade and Worksharp for keeping it sharp.
Epic Camp Cook Kit: GSI 2-Burner Camp Stove • GSI Stainless Cookware
While preparing for this shoot, I kept the colors of my clothing and gear in the forefront of my mind. Since Work Sharp has a beautiful yellow as their “pop color”, I knew I had to accommodate that on my end and that’s why I chose this sick yellow Columbia rain jacket!
Little details and pre-planning, such as picking the right outfits that match your client, are such a huge deal for creating a good lifestyle shoot. I, personally, like to lay all of the gear out ahead of time and scrutinize every detail to make sure it’s going to look great in the final photographs.
Lifestyle Photography
This was a really fun photoshoot and I believe we perfectly captured the moments of why sharp knives matter. Whether I’m needing to quickly cut a line without causing more abrasion to it, tying on a different lure to catch a big bass that splashed to my right side, or clean a fish for the dinner table…I count on Work Sharp Sharpeners to keep my knives & tools sharp in the field and at home!
