Friends from far & wide, fellow knife collectors and everyday carry enthusiasts…I wish you a Happy National Knife Day! As a self-proclaimed knife addict myself, I wanted to show you all what’s in my pocket on this glorious holiday!
Benchmade 319 Proper
I use and review a ton of knives here at AnthonyAwaken. I’ve been blessed to be able to use knives from many brands and many models of knives from those brands.
However, a knife manufacturer I haven’t done a whole lot with is Benchmade. I’ve owned a Mini Griptilian (until my wife laid claim to it). So, I wanted to treat myself to something a bit different. I ended up recently grabbing a Benchmade Proper, model #319 in Green Linen Micarta.
I have been carrying a small Swiss Army Knife Cadet as a backup to my main knife (typically the Sage 5 by Spyderco). So, I’m not totally unfamiliar with slip-joint types of knives. But I have never bought a dedicated single blade slip joint for myself. I figured it was time to change that. And the Benchmade Proper came just in time for National Knife Day, 2017 🙂
Benchmade Proper Review
While I’ve seen a fair amount of buzz around Instagram about the Benchmade Proper, I’ve not seen a ton of reviews for this knife. I’ll change this very soon. I plan to carry this over the next month or two and I’ll report back here with my thoughts in a full-length Benchmade Proper Review.
I can share a few of the high points that made me buy this knife right now though:
- Weight:
This sucker is light, coming in at 2.32oz. With its already slim profile (0.090″) it disappears in your pocket….Hence why I attached a lanyard, lol. - Micarta:
I love micarta on certain knives. And in my opinion, micarta was a brilliant addition to the Benchmade Proper (I much preferred it over the G10 in terms of look and feel). - S30V:
I love S30V for its edge retention, ease of sharpening and how durable it is. I think it’s the perfect EDC (everyday carry) steel. - Simplicity & Class:
I love how beautiful and simple this knife is. It feels like an updated version of something my grandfather or great-grandfather would’ve carried. And for that reason, I simply think it adds cool-points.
I cannot wait to put this knife through its paces over the next month or so. I have a feeling it’s going to be a fun addition to my EDC.
