I posted 4 images this week from my new “This is Home” photography series. But, let’s push the breaks real fast…If you’re still not familiar with this photo series, jump over to this page and then come back before we dig into the shots.
Self.
The first image for This is Home features a dark self-portrait of myself. You can only see the detail in one of my hands and I look very uneasy or anxious about something. This photo set the tone for this project, in my eyes. It invoked real emotion and I was happy about that.
I’m honestly a genuinely happy and upbeat person. But even after 10+ years of running a creative studio, there are times that I still feel insecure. I can get into slumps where I’m overly anxious about sending my work out to be judged by the world. After all, these are the things that I put the entirety of my heart & soul into.
Daily Grind.
Next up is a visual of my dark desk with my monitor lighting the keys beneath my fingers. At this point in my work day, I am mulling over the creative choices I made for photo edits, designs, and other peoples visions that they left in my hands.
Speaking of hands…My hands are cramping and ready to quit for the day. But, my mind keeps moving to the next thing that I’m ready to create.
Tools.
Cracking open my Think Tank bag for the 50th time this month, I pull out my camera and get ready to put it on my tripod for a day full of photo shoots. This is the point where I pause because I realize I’m getting to live my dream of creating things for a living. From the age of 5, I always said I would be an artist one day.
Light it Up.
My photos are a constant balancing game of light & dark. I expose every area that I want you to see and leave the rest to fall into the shadows.
